He was a fine Golfer prior to war and a member of the Guernsey Militia .Killed in Action by a shell in France .in 1916
He was the first man in the Royal Guernsey Militia to volunteer for service in the RGLI
though he was in the Guernsey Comp of the Royal Irish Regiment a cousin of his was also killed in the same day Harry de Carteret son of Thomas Peter in the same
battle
