The French Recaptured Bordeaux on October the 19th 1453 the start of the Hundred Years of War which in fact became 116 years , just how much our family became involved
we will find ?This name is given to the protracted conflict between France and England from 1337 to 1453, which continued through the reigns of the French kings Philip VI, John II, Charles V, Charles VI, Charles VII, and of the English kings Edward III, Richard II, Henry IV, Henry V and Henry VI. The principal causes of the war, which broke out in Guienne in 1337,were the disputes arising in connexion with the French possessions of the English kings, in respect to which they were vassals of the kings of France; the pretensions of Edward III to the French throne after the accession of Philip VI; Philip's intervention in the affairs of Flanders and Scotland; and, finally, the machinations of Robert of Artois.

HEIR to his Grandfather , Opponent of the malicious Govenor Matthew Baker , whom he and his wife eventually
caused to be expelled from office in 1494.
Baker had arranged for a letter to be droped on the road to St Helier ,and found by one of his servants on the course of thier journey to town for a court sitting , this letter was supposed to impilcate Phillip de Carteret in the invaision of the island by the French. to wit Phillip was put in the prision at Mont Orguille Castle dudgeon
Trial by combat was the course set , after he had been duly starved to give his chosen opponent by Matthew
one Le Bouttillier , who had been saved by Phillip some time before ,only to turn his back on him for a bag of silver.
Margaret who had not long given birth to a child arose form her bed and went to the King in England to obtain a pardon from the combat. A Renactment of this was preformed by Les Deux Leopards, was filmed at St Ouens Manor in 2003 copies from Secretary.
