Purchased from the Seigneur part of the property known as le Manoir a Clos du Normand,which on searching the records shows that John Lord Carteret, John was Siegneur from 1715 to 1720 when he sold the fief. He held (in absentia) the office of As Bailiff of Jersey from 1715.the last de Carteret Seigneur of Sark , must have had a thought that the family should retain some of what would have been their birth right.
Or lack of interest as he had they say “never put a foot in the door,”only his private papers would confirm that he had given an instruction to sell off ,this part of the estate before it the island was sold en block to Colonel John Johnson in 1720. who was the Officer in command of the Guernsey garrison and was the eigth siegneur till his death in 1723
