Mr. Alfred DeCarteret died Wednesday (August 12, 1953) at Sunny Acres rest home after a long illness. He
was born in this town, the son of the late John and Mary (LeMasurier) DeCarteret. He was a stonecutter
until ill health forced his retirement. He had been a member of the North Congregational Church.
He is survived by three sons, Albert DeCarteret of Tyngsboro, Rusell and Paul H. DeCarteret of Lowell;
three daughters, Mrs. Marion E. Dunn and Mrs. Charles A. Lovell, both of Gardner, and Mrs. Randolph B.
Reed of Lowell; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Roberts of Tyngsboro, Mrs. Theophilus Machon and Mrs. Ethel
Sanders, both of the North section; a brother, Arthur DeCarteret of the North Section; 17 grandchildren and
six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for Alfred DeCarteret of Dunstable Road, North section were held Saturday afternoon at
the funeral home, 224 Pine Street, Lowell. Rev. Warren Chandler, pastor of the Central Congregational
Church officiated at the service.
The church was represented by Miss Mary E. Snow, deaconess and Miss Elizabeth Tiffany, church visitor,
St. Joseph's Hospital Nurses Alumae was represented by Mrs. Raymond Genest and Mrs. Harry Healey.
Bearers included Robert, Richard and James DeCarteret, Allen Dunn, David Lovell and Joe Perrault.
Burial took place in Riverside Cemetery, North Section where Mr. Chandler read the committal prayers.
Arrangements were in charge of funeral director, W. Ernest Mountain.
