MRS Laura E Laurens (Nee Clement) widow of Mr John Laurens died at St Lawrence Jersey on 29th June 1935.  Her late husband John Laurens was the only child of Jean Laurens and of Marie Esther de Carteret who was a younger daughter of Elie de Carteret and of Nenne Renouf (who is also referred to as “Anne” Renouf).  John de Carteret who married Rachel Le Gros and who was the founder of the New Zealand branch of the de Carterets was an elder brother of the said Marie Esther de Carteret.

By the peculiar laws of Jersey, upon the death of Mr John Laurens in 1913, his widow had to provide for the value of certain realestate which Mr Laurens had inherited from his ancestors, which estate he had sold or otherwise disposed of during his lifetime, the law of Jersey then being that such estate must return to the family.

The compensation was duly provided for, but it was not to take effect until the death of the said Mrs Laurens………………………
