The family of Seale came originally from Northumberland. About the close of
Queen Elizbeth's reign, Robert Seale, a scion of the Northumbian line, settled
in Jersey, and from his only son, Thomas Seale, who married Anne, daughter of Col. Phillip Carteret, chief Justice of the Island and governor of MontOrgueil Castle, descended John Seale, for whom was purchased, during his
minority, about a 1700/24, the goodly heritage of Mount Boone. Burkes Peerage. 1856.
