Sir Philip Carteret,Bart.Silvester.Captain RN,as heir to his Uncle.
took the surname of Sivester ,on the death of his uncle Sir John Silvesteron the 30 March 1822,when Philip succeded to the baronetcy,by a special
clause in the patent. when he died on the 24 Aug 1828 this became extinct.
Uncle John Silvester,1745-1822. who graduated B.C.L.from St Johns College
Oxford in 1764,was chosen common sergeant by the corporation ofLondon in 1790 ,succeaded Sir John Wm Rose as Recorder in 1803, he had
been Elected F.R.S. IN 1780.F.S.A.1804 and was created,D.C.L.by Oxford University in 1818.made baronet 27 Dec1814. Buried at Chingford in
Essex on the 6 April 1822.
