enjoyment of a certain mill usually known as the Malt Mill situate near La Ferme in the parish of Grouville,with its mill leat,sluices ect,which mill ect the said Clement Dumaresq Gent, had purchased from Phillip de Carteret Gent ,who had a right from the said Elie de Carteret,for and in order that the said Mis Marie de Carteret widow of the said Elie may enjoy the same by way of Dower during her life time subject to the duties imposed by law.(Prevot to give record.)”
If this is correct,then there are areas of question as to the correct addressing of Marie.as she was the Veuve de Elie. not Demelle Marie de Carteret. if it is one and the same Elie he was the Rector ,why he was not recorded as such,as ther seems to have been some duabt at the time of writing the artitcule as to the identity of Phillip de Carteret.
