News Report ; Finding of the Body of Capt John Peter de Carteret
“ The body of this seaman who drowned off Port Bail Brittany France together with Peter Le Ferve on 11 of April last , was recovered on sunday last by some fishermen near the Port Bail Harbour and interred the same day/
The body of Peter Le Ferve was picked up about three weeks ago.
Upon the body of John Peter who was Master of the cutter Normandy., were found his watch and upwards of 330 Francs , monies beloning to Mr John Blampied a Pork Butcher , 16 Old St James St .Saint Helier Shop Parade Jersey, the owner of the Cutter mentioned , several letters and papers were like wise found upon the body of the deceased. Through a curious arrgement of the coat which covered the head the face of the late captain was easily recognisable ,Whilst the body considering the long time it had been in the water was in a good state of preservation .-Express
